Local Governance Committee

High Street and Marlborough Primary Academies Joint Local Governance Committee

As of 1 September 2025, the local governing bodies of High Street Primary Academy and Marlborough Primary Academy transitioned into a single governing body now called a Committee. This is a positive move and a way of building on the partnerships being developed between the schools. This will provide an opportunity for the strengths of each governance committee to come together for the benefit of all the pupils. The joint Local Governance Committee hold 3 full governor meetings a year where each governor can contribute to all areas of governance..

A Local Governance Committee within a Reach South Academy Trust consists of:

4 Trust appointed members

High Street and Marlborough governors provide support and advice to the Senior Leadership Teams as well as monitoring the school's achievements and challenging decisions.

We provide:
  • Overview and scrutiny of the management of the academies;
  • Policy development for the academies where this has been delegated to us from the Trust; scrutiny of policy compliance by the academies where policy is set by the Trustees;
  • Championship of the academies and its leaders;
  • Engagement with the parents of pupils and the wider community.
We do this by:
  • Holding termly meetings to discuss the schools, their achievements and areas of need, the policies and
  • Visiting the schools and observing lessons and the schools in action.
  • Talking to the pupils, parents, and staff to find out their views.

 I am Jamie, I'm parent of a daughter in Year 4 at Marlborough Primary Academy and can't wait to start as a Parent Governor. I have a strong passion for education, shaped by my own experience of being let down in primary school when my dyslexia went unnoticed. This has given me a real commitment to ensuring that every child has the support they need to thrive and reach their potential.

Alongside this, I care deeply about the environment and regularly volunteer with my daughter for Clean Our Patch CIC, taking part in community litter-picking. I believe this reflects my values of responsibility, teamwork, and setting a positive example for young people.

I would bring dedication, lived experience, and a collaborative approach to the role, with the aim of helping Marlborough Primary and High Street Primary continue to grow as a supportive, inclusive, and inspiring place for all children.
